Grades 6-12: We invite passionate young singers to become part of the VIP community! If you’re interested in joining, please contact us to schedule an audition. During an audition, we'll check your vocal range, ask you to sing a song you know, and do a few age-appropriate musical activities. You will leave with a smile and excitement for what’s ahead! We'll be singing with a professional symphony orchestra in 2025!
Auditions 2025-26 Season
Acceptance into VIP is based on the ability to match pitch, interest, eagerness to learn, and dedication to the group. Auditions are required only for our main group, for students who will be in grades 6 - 12. Students in grade 6 can audition to join VIP or join VIP Jr without an audition.
An audition is friendly, low-pressure, and requires no preparation; it's like a mini voice lesson. No experience is necessary. The director is committed to teaching healthy vocal technique and ensuring that all children have an enjoyable musical experience (which includes the audition).
The goal of the 20-minute audition is to reveal the child's musical potential. We will check the vocal range (how high and low you can sing), ask you to sing a song you know, and do some age-appropriate musical activities. You will leave with a smile and excitement for what’s ahead! Auditions can be individual or in small groups.
Parents should join the child at the end of the audition to talk about the program. Registration forms will be emailed after the audition.
VIP offers exceptional choral music education made possible through philanthropy, community support and tuition fees. Tuition covers about 60% of the actual cost, and every child receives a subsidy to help keep the program affordable. Tuition pays for weekly group instruction, personalized musicianship lessons with the artistic director several times a semester, and a professional accompanist at rehearsals. Tuition includes the September "Sing and Socialize." Tuition does not include tickets to VIP Concerts, tickets to concerts where VIP performs, workshops with guest artists, special events or the cost of a VIP shirt.
Tuition VIP Junior (GRADES 3-5; ALL CHILDREN WELCOME; NO AUDITION IS NEEDED): TUITION $160 early registration fee until Dec 1. TUITION $200 regular registration fee after Dec. 1 REHEARSALS: MONDAYS 5:15- 6:10 PM; JAN 26 - APRIL 27, 2026. No classes Feb 16, March 30. Tuition pays for weekly group instruction. Tuition does not include tickets to VIP Concerts, tickets to concerts where VIP performs, the cost of a VIP shirt. Please email [email protected] to register.
Sing and Shine: VIP at Plainfield Park District THURSDAYS, JAN 22- APRIL 16, 2026 AGES 8-11, 4:45 - 5:45 PM. AGES 6-7, 5:50 - 6:35 PM. Registration and payment through the Plainfield Park District. Free trial classes are not available for this program.

VIP would like every child in the community to experience the joy of ensemble singing. Scholarships are available based on financial need for VIP and VIP Jr. Scholarships are not available for classes at the Park District. "Sing and Shine" does not offer scholarships.
