Auditions 2026-27 Season
For children currently in Grades 5-11 Audition dates: April 14 and 21, 5:00 pm. May 9, 9:00 - 11:00 am. May 12 and 19, 5:00 - 7:30 pm.
Acceptance into VIP is based on the ability to match pitch, interest, eagerness to learn, and dedication to the group. Auditions are required only for our main group, for students who will be in grades 6 - 12. Students in grade 6 can audition to join VIP or join VIP JR without an audition.
An audition is friendly, low-pressure, and requires no preparation; it's like a mini voice lesson. No experience is necessary. The director is committed to teaching healthy vocal technique and ensuring that all children have an enjoyable musical experience (which includes the audition).
The goal of the 20-minute audition is to reveal the child's musical potential. We will check the vocal range (how high and low you can sing), ask you to sing a song you know, and do some age-appropriate musical activities. You will leave with a smile and excitement for what’s ahead! Auditions can be individual or in small groups.
Parents should join the child at the end of the audition to talk about the program. Registration forms will be emailed after the audition.
Tuition SEPT 2026 - MAY 2027
VIP (GRADES 6- 12; AUDITION REQUIRED) TUITION $670 (early registration by June 17 $600) REHEARSALS: TUESDAYS 6:30 - 8:00 PM; SEPT 2026 - MAY 2027.
VIP offers exceptional choral music education made possible through philanthropy, community support and tuition fees. Tuition covers about 60% of the actual cost, and every child receives a subsidy to help keep the program affordable. Tuition pays for weekly group instruction, personalized musicianship lessons with the artistic director several times a semester, and a professional accompanist at rehearsals. Tuition does not include the VIP "Sing and Socialize" event, tickets to VIP concerts, tickets to concerts where VIP performs, workshops with guest artists, special events, or the cost of a required VIP shirt.
VIP JUNIOR (GRADES 3-6; ALL CHILDREN WELCOME; NO AUDITION IS NEEDED) TUITION $ 445 (early registration by June 17 $400)
REHEARSALS: MONDAYS 5:00- 6:00 PM; SEPT 2026 - MAY 2027 Tuition pays for weekly group instruction. Tuition does not include tickets to VIP concerts, special events, or the cost of a required VIP shirt. Registration form coming soon.
SING AND SHINE: VIP at the Plainfield Park District THURSDAYS, SEPT - DEC 2026; JAN - APRIL 2027 AGES 8-11, 4:45 - 5:45 PM. AGES 6-7, 5:50 - 6:35 PM. Registration and payment (opens in August 2026) through the Plainfield Park District. Free trial classes are not available for this program.
PAYMENT INFORMATION Please make checks payable to Plainfield Area Community Chorus. Zelle is accepted. PayPal payments are accepted; please add a 2.9% service fee. POLICIES All payments for VIP and VIP JUNIOR are non-refundable. Tuition is not prorated for late registration or missed classes.
SCHOLARSHIPS VIP is committed to ensuring that every child in our community has the opportunity to experience the joy of ensemble singing. Need-based scholarships are available for both VIP and VIP Junior programs.
